The NBA trade deadline is months away, but trade rumors are an ongoing topic.
One of the names mentioned in those rumors is Portland Trail Blazers big man Robert Williams III.
Williams recently returned from a hamstring strain, and since returning, his presence has been felt. His recent performances have other teams on notice, and some of them are contenders looking to fine-tune their rosters, the Milwaukee Bucks included.
This info was shared by reporter Jake Weinbach, who wrote, “The Milwaukee Bucks are another team to closely monitor for Robert Williams III.
Weinbach also mentioned the Los Angeles Lakers as another favorite to land Williams around February’s deadline.
Williams is averaging 10.8 points and 6.6 rebounds this season. In his first game, he had 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals. His third game was impressive, as he finished with 19 points and nine rebounds. He also flooded the stat sheet on defense with three blocks and three steals. Williams played 25 minutes in that game due to Deandre Ayton’s absence.
His presence on the defensive end is rarely in question, but what he did offensively in the game stuck out.
Milwaukee has a record of 6-9 this season. They are playing below their expectations and need to shake things up. Portland’s 27-year-old center is not a big trade, but it is someone that can push the Bucks in the right direction. If this move does happen, Bobby Portis is likely involved.
The Bucks have a good chance of getting Williams, but it is a matter of when. Then, with other teams interested, there is a chance they miss out.
