The Detroit Lions have yet another injury concern during the Week 12 game versus the Indianapolis Colts after running back David Montgomery was spotted going into the medical tent following a touchdown drive in the third quarter.
The injury appears to have occurred after a screen pass to Montgomery in the third quarter. After the play, Montgomery took himself out of the game and went to the sideline.
After the commercial break, the FOX broadcast revealed that Montgomery had gone into the blue medical tent to get checked out. It remains unclear what he’s dealing with, though. Check out all the latest updates on Montgomery below.
David Montgomery injury update
UPDATE: Montgomery revealed that he was kept out of the game as a precaution and will be good to go for Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bears.
Asked David Montgomery if he could’ve gone back in the game if needed. He said yes, but Dan Campbell pulled him aside and told him, “There’s bigger fish to fry.” Said it was a smart decision and he’ll be ready to go Thursday.

UPDATE: After the game, head coach Dan Campbell revealed that he feels “OK” about Montgomery’s status moving forward.
Dan Campbell says he feels “OK” about injuries to Carlton Davis, David Montgomery and Taylor Decker, but says Kalif Raymond’s foot injury is “a little more serious.”
With that, says he’s not sure if any of those four will be ready for Thursday vs. Chicago.

There is no status update on Montgomery yet, but the Lions running back was spotted walking to the locker room without his shoulder pads on. That is not a good sign for Montgomery’s status for the rest of the game.

We’ll update this page once more information becomes available on Montgomery.
If he doesn’t return, it’ll mean more work for Jahmyr Gibbs, who already has a pair of touchdowns on the day. We could also see some run for Craig Reynolds.
Montgomery is the third significant injury the Lions have seen on Sunday. Both left tackle Taylor Decker and wide receiver Kalif Raymond have exited with issues, but Decker has since returned.
