The Denver Broncos waived tight end Greg Dulcich on Monday and less than 24 hours later, he has been claimed off waivers by the New York Giants.
That is good news for Dulcich, who likely needed some after the Broncos gave up on him following a disappointing run with the team. At 2-9 on the season, the Giants held the No. 2 waiver position in the league, so Dulcich didn’t fall too far down the board before he was claimed.

Dulcich caught only 41 passes in parts of three seasons with the Broncos after being selected in the third round of the 2022 draft out of UCLA. He joins a Giants team that needs a little bit of everything and will go into complete rebuild mode this offseason after they cut their former first-round pick, Daniel Jones, this past week.

There is plenty of room for opportunity here for Dulcich. Theo Johnson is a player with a lot of promise, but the team has next to nothing behind him. Dulcich could come in and earn a key spot on this offense if he impresses the coaching staff the rest of this season and has a strong, injury-free offseason before the 2025 campaign kicks off.
The Broncos have not had good luck in drafting tight ends in recent years. Since 2016, the year after winning Super Bowl 50, they have drafted each of these tight ends, hoping to get a productive player that they can build the position around. That has not happened.

Broncos fans will recognize those names and think of what could have been with most of them. At this point, only Fant and Dulcich are still in the league.
