The Milwaukee Bucks are a team to keep an eye on when it comes to trades.
Their name keeps coming up with different players, with one of the latest attached to them being Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas.
Gery Woelfel recently reported that the Bucks are looking at both Thomas and Dorian Finney-Smith. Woelfel mentioned in the tweet that a GM said that the Nets “are getting ready to rebuild— again.”
Thomas is known for his scoring ability, and for a team seeking a third option, the 23-year-old guard gives them a boost on the offensive end.
When asked who would be a better fit for the Bucks, Woelfel went with the Nets leading scorer.
“Thomas. He’s only 23 and already a big-time scorer.” Woelfel wrote.
Thomas has a four-year, $10 million contract, which is his rookie deal. The Nets had a club option that they exercised in October of last year. Before this season, Brooklyn had the chance to sign him to an extension but did not reach an agreement before the deadline.
He will be a restricted free agent in the offseason. The move seems questionable, but the Nets will enter the offseason with the most cap space in the league. This gives them an opportunity to make some moves and speed up their rebuild.
The young guard could find a new home soon, as The Athletic’s Sam Amick mentioned that the scorer is “widely available.”
Shams Charania of ESPN recently reported that Thomas will be out three to four weeks due to a hamstring strain, which could impact the Nets moving him or other teams’ interests.
Although it may have little to no impact on a team like Milwaukee. The Bucks are fighting to get back to the top, and a dynamic scorer like Thomas will help.
