The Minnesota Timberwolves picked up a much-needed win Monday night against the Los Angeles Lakers. While the Wolves’ defense was solid, the offense was still out of sync. It was just that the Lakers managed to play even worse.
Recently, Anthony Edwards decided to voice his frustrations with the Wolves.
“I think it’s we soft as (heck) as a team, internally. Not to the other team, but internally, we soft,” Edwards said. “We can’t talk to each other. Just a bunch of little kids. Just like we playing with a bunch of little kids. Everybody, the whole team. We just can’t talk to each other. And we’ve got to figure it out, because we can’t go down this road.”
In addition to the trade rumors surrounding Donte DiVincenzo, perhaps the other player brought in from the Karl-Anthony Towns trade, Julius Randle, could be the name shopped on the trade market.
While arguably everyone other than Edwards could be to blame for the team’s struggles in the early part of the season, Randle’s struggles to fit in override everything else. He was the key part of the trade for Towns. He came to Minnesota with high expectations, but so far hasn’t worked out. Towns is and will always be a liability on defense, but somehow Randle has been just as bad on that end.
Although he hasn’t fit in Minnesota, he could fit in someplace else. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report predicts the Wolves could aggressively shop Randle for a trade.
“His ball-dominant game and struggle to contribute in ways beyond scoring make him a tricky fit everywhere, but the Wolves will try to find a taker when the trade market heats up,” Hughes wrote.
Instead of DiVincenzo or Gobert, the name trade rumors surrounding the Wolves should be Randle. He is the most talented player of the three. He would get more intriguing offers.
