Barcelona star Andreas Christensen is confident over signing a contract extension at the club at the start of 2025.
The Danish international has not featured for the Catalan giants since opening game of the 2024/25 La Liga season after suffering an Achilles tendon injury.
His recovery has been hit by delays with an initial reported return date of December pushed back to January as a precaution.
As part of his rehabilitation, Christensen also faces a call on his future in Catalonia, with his current deal expiring at the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 28-year-old is not alone in facing key talks with the club, as 12 first team players are also out of contract at the end of next season.
That dozen includes teenage superstar Lamine Yamal, alongside Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong.
Barcelona are expected to make some big calls in the coming months, with selected players put up for sale in 2025, to ensure a transfer fee can be generated before a potential free transfer exit in 2026.
Despite the pressure of heading into the final 18 months of his contract, Christensen is confident on agreeing terms, but his current focus remains on his recovery from injury.
“The club has only told me so far to make sure I’m ready and they’re looking forward to my return,” as per quotes from TV2 Sport, via Marca.
“Yes, my intention is to stay here.”
The report adds that despite Barcelona not opening formal extension talks with Christensen, they are planning a renewal offer, once he is back up to full fitness in 2025.
