The Miami Heat have been pressured to blow it up recently, but what if they double down on their core and add a star point guard to the mix?
That’s just what Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz envisioned Miami doing in a trade proposal on Monday, which saw the Heat sending the Sacramento Kings a package of Terry Rozier, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nikola Jović, Kel’el Ware, and a 2030 first-rounder for All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox.
“Fox has largely remained out of trade rumors throughout his career, but it’s worth noting he turned down a three-year, $165 million extension with the Kings last offseason according to ESPN’s Shams Charania,” Swartz said.
“Now in Year 8 in Sacramento and with just one playoff series to show for it, how long will Fox remain patient?”
“Should the 26-year-old ask out, Miami would be a strong landing spot for the All-Star guard.”
“A starting five of Fox, Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, Haywood Highsmith and Bam Adebayo with Duncan Robinson, Kevin Love, Alec Burks, Pelle Larsson, Josh Richardson and others off the bench would get the Heat back toward the top of the East.”
“Sacramento can improve its overall depth and ceiling by adding Jaquez, Jović and Ware, three high-upside prospects who were all first-round picks the past three years.”
“Rozier gives the Kings a veteran point guard to stay in the playoff hunt, and Sacramento collects a future unprotected first from Miami as well.”
