Manchester United’s turbulent season just got worse.
Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte, two of their most crucial players, will miss the upcoming Premier League showdown against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
Both are sidelined due to suspension, leaving manager Ruben Amorim scrambling for solutions.
Fernandes, the team captain, received his third red card of the season during United’s 2-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His dismissal early in the second half added to the team’s struggles. Meanwhile, Ugarte’s accumulation of yellow cards has also ruled him out.
With both players unavailable, the Red Devils face yet another uphill battle in what has been a disappointing campaign so far.

Speaking after the Wolves defeat, Amorim defended Fernandes, emphasizing the midfielder’s intent to play the ball rather than commit a deliberate foul.
“It’s frustrating, but he’s always fighting for the ball,” Amorim said.
The head coach acknowledged the team’s struggles, citing a lack of aggression and poor execution in crucial moments.
“We’re in control of games but not dominating them. Set-pieces and red cards have made things harder,” he added.
The absence of Fernandes and Ugarte forces Amorim to consider changes. Casemiro, Alejandro Garnacho, and Joshua Zirkzee are among the players who could step in as United desperately try to turn their season around.
United’s recent form has been dismal. Back-to-back defeats against Bournemouth and Wolves have left them languishing in 14th place in the Premier League.
With just six points separating them from the relegation zone, the once-mighty Red Devils find themselves in unfamiliar territory.
