Some people forget that Carmelo ended his NBA career in a Lakers uniform.
After finishing No. 7 in Sixth Man of the Year voting in 2020-21 with the Portland Trail Blazers, a 37-year-old Anthony took his talents to Los Angeles.
2021-22 was a nightmare season for the Lakers, who missed the playoffs. Anthony wasn’t the reason, though. He was third on the team in games played that year (69). Anthony Davis played in only 40 games, LeBron in only 56 — hence the team’s struggles.
Carmelo’s No. 9 ranking in points per game among all of LeBron’s Lakers teammates shows that even at an advanced age, Melo was still a verified bucket.
It would have been interesting to see Melo and Bron play together at a younger age. The two players were drafted at No. 3 and No. 1 in the 2003 NBA draft, respectively, and will be linked forever in basketball history.
