For months, Real Madrid have been viewed as the next destination for Liverpool and England star Trent Alexander-Arnold by many.
There was confidence from Spanish experts very recently that it was now only a matter of when the versatile player arrived at the Bernabeu instead of if —with a January move for a fee or a summer switch when his contract expires the two options.
However, now there is a growing belief that they’re ready to move on in their pursuit of defensive reinforcements.

Centre-back Ibrahima Konate is, according to Caught Offside, also on Carlo Ancelotti’s radar.
While not one of the Liverpool trio linked with daily transfer speculation — Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, as well as TAA, are all free agents at the end of the season as of now —Konate’s name has now emerged.
The publication cites the long-term injury suffered by Eder Militao as the main reason Konate could be on Real’s hitlist, while also making it clear that their interest in the CB stands whether they get anywhere with Alexander-Arnold or not.
However, when it comes to strengthening the biggest area of concern for the rest of the season, which includes a tight La Liga race and some serious wobbles in their Champions League defence so far, they are likely to want one defender in before the end of the month, minimum.
So, if Alexander-Arnold does not agree to join immediately, Konate could be the subject of a serious offer.

They have recently also been linked with Bayern Munich’s speedy Canadian fullback Alphonso Davies.
