Rangers boss Philippe Clement has hinted at no more new faces arriving at Ibrox Stadium before the transfer window closes on February 3.
Clement has only brought in one new player in the mid-season market, with Rafael Fernandes joining on loan from Lille until the end of the campaign – which the option to make the move permanent this summer – but the door could now be closed in both directions.
Kieran Dowell has joined Birmingham City on loan, but key duo Ianis Hagi and Cyriel Dessers look set to stay in Glasgow, despite rumoured Serie A interest in the pair.
On the back of a 4-0 home win over Ross County, with Hagi on target twice, Clement reiterated his stance of Ridvan Yimaz going nowhere but warned fans not to expect too much.
“We can only let players who perform well leave, if we can replace them with better players, I don’t expect that in the case of Ridvan,” as per BBC Sport.
“We’ve had meetings about players who have the level to help the team. We’ll see in the next couple of hours if anything is possible.”
With their title challenge looking over, as Celtic lead the Scottish top-flight by 10 points, Clement still has the chance to win a trophy elsewhere in his first season at the club.
Rangers host Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup Fifth Round on February 9 as they await to see who is on the horizon in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 later this month.
