The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday evening.
The all-important contest proved significant, as the Warriors are now within a game of the Lakers in the Western Conference standings.
It appeared the game was going to be a shootout with Austin Reaves and Brandon Podziemski exchanging 3-pointers early and often.
While Podziemski finished with 28 points, the game didn’t necessarily follow the script of a shootout.
Golden State grew the lead to 14 points in the fourth quarter before the Lakers cut into the lead, but it was too late by then.

Luka, LeBron trash-talk clip revealed
It’s not uncommon in the NBA for the occasional trash talk to be exchanged between players.
It happens all the time. Most of the time, it is just in the spirit of competition.
Especially when the Warriors are involved, you know Draymond Green is going to be involved in the trash talk at some point.
After Doncic drew a foul on Quinten Post, Post called out Doncic for foul-baiting.
Doncic looked amused that, of all people, Post was attempting to trash-talk him.
“I know your a– ain’t talking, you a p—-,” Doncic said.
After Post asked what he was talking about, James jumped in.
“You’re a f—— bum,” said James.
Green came to Post’s defense, yelling at James not to talk to him.
While it may seem like Green is one who wants to jump into every tussle, things were relatively tame.
Despite Post being just a rookie, he absolutely has the respect of Green for him to put himself on the line like that to stand up for Post to two of the biggest stars in the NBA.
Post was a second-round draft pick out of Boston College and has provided the Warriors with a true seven-footer inside while being able to step outside the arc and drain the three.
If these teams meet in the playoffs, keep an eye out for things to escalate.
