Aaron Rodgers has just three options on the table regarding his football future. He can either sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, retire, or wait till another job opens around the league.
Rodgers has taken his time to make a decision, and though it has been incredibly frustrating, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox predicts the future Hall of Famer will eventually sign with the Steelers.
Rodgers may represent the Steelers’ last, best chance to add a starter outside of the draft—or, possibly, a post-draft Kirk Cousins trade. Rodgers was decidedly average for the Jets in 2024, but Russell Wilson wasn’t even that late in 2024, and Pittsburgh still managed to reach the postseason.
After Russell Wilson signed with the New York Giants, Rodgers landing in Pittsburgh has become the expectation. The 10-time Pro Bowler visited the franchise’s facility a couple of weeks ago and met with a few prominent members of the organization, including head coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Omar Khan, and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
Rodgers had a tumultuous two years with the New York Jets, as he played just a handful of snaps in 2023 after tearing his left Achilles tendon in Week 1. He was able to start all 17 games in 2024 but led the Jets to a 5-12 record and was released by the team ahead of free agency.
Though Rodgers is no longer an elite signal-caller, the four-time league MVP didn’t have an awful statistical season last year, tossing 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions, and could elevate Pittsburgh’s offense.

The Steelers have the pieces in place for Rodgers to succeed, as the team has a dynamic receiver duo in DK Metcalf and George Pickens, a solid offensive line, and a defense that has been one of the better units in the league over the past few seasons.
Rodgers may not be the same player he once was, but a change in scenery in Pittsburgh could be what he needs to reclaim his spot as one of the better quarterbacks in football.
