It’s been a season of ups, downs, and now a possible farewell for Arsenal midfielder Jorginho.
The 33-year-old Italian is nursing a rib injury picked up during the draw against Brentford earlier this month. While that match didn’t shake the Premier League standings, it may have shaken more than a few bones — literally, in Jorginho’s case.
As Arsenal eyes a strong finish, his absence could be felt deeply in the heart of midfield.
Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the concern in his latest press conference. “For Jorginho, I think unfortunately it will be a few weeks,” he said.
“I hope so (to have him back), but I’m not certain. So we have to see how he evolves in the next few days.”
With his contract set to expire at the end of June, and talks of a move to Brazilian club Flamengo already surfacing, fans are beginning to wonder if Jorginho has already played his last match in red and white.

Can Jorginho return for Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final?
Arsenal’s bench has already felt lighter with Thomas Partey suspended and other key names ruled out for the season. Add Jorginho to that growing list, and Arteta is left sketching his midfield plans on the back of a napkin.
The boss didn’t give much away when asked if Jorginho could make the Champions League semi-final first leg against PSG.
“That’s probably a question for the doctor,” he said. Not the answer fans were hoping for, but probably the safest one considering the tricky nature of rib injuries.
? Jorginho, still expected to leave Arsenal as free agent at the end of the season.

Despite the quiet exit looming, Jorginho’s time at Arsenal hasn’t gone unnoticed. Since joining in January 2023, he’s racked up over 50 appearances and brought valuable experience to a young, hungry squad.
Now, with Flamengo circling, it looks like samba may be the next stop in his football journey.
