Meanwhile, Manchester United still have other ideas in mind. They have been flirting with the idea of signing Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray.
But Osimhen’s massive wage demands have turned that dream into a bit of a financial nightmare.
United also face another hurdle. While Chelsea might miss out on Champions League football, United still have a shot through the Europa League.
If they win the tournament, they could offer Delap top-tier European football next season. That could turn the tide — or it could leave them chasing shadows if Chelsea get the deal done first.
