Grow a Garden’s chilled mutation is one of the Roblox game’s best, even if you don’t need a chilled tomato for the Angry Plant quests. Chilled crops have double their standard value, regardless of what the crop type is, though unsurprisingly, it’s not an easy mutation to get.

Our Grow a Garden chilled mutation guide explains how to get a chilled tomato and what to look for so you know you actually did get one.

Grow a Garden: How to get chilled crops

Grow a Garden’s chilled mutation works in a manner similar to the wet mutation. Chilled crops only turn up after a period of snow or frost, and you can tell your crop is chilled by looking at it. Normal ones look, well, normal, and chilled crops in Grow a Garden have little snowflakes floating off them.

The issue is that, like with wet crops, it’s impossible to forecast when Grow a Garden’s weather will change, at least in the game’s current version. On the bright side, Grow a Garden’s events are global, which means they happen at the same time across every server. If you spot a frost event happening in someone else’s Roblox game, it’ll be in yours at the same time, too.

You can tell it’s a frost weather event by the slightly light blue-ish hazy tint to the lighting. Snowflakes are present as well, but they’re tiny and infrequent – easy to miss. There’s also a chance you’ll end up with the frozen mutation instead, which is bad for quests that need chilled items but an excellent turn of events in any other scenario. Frozen crops are worth 10 times the standard value of normal crops, and you can tell they’re frozen as they’re encased in a block of ice.

Regardless of when it happens, the chilled mutation applies at random, and it may apply to any crop as long as it’s in the ground when the frosty weather rolled in, even if it’s fully grown and waiting for harvesting. You don’t have to plant it as soon as the frost starts.

If the Angry Plant event comes back, you’ll need chilled tomatoes to complete it and get your basic seed packs. It’s still worth aiming for chilled crops even without the hungry quests for incentive, though, since you can get double the usual money for chilled crops compared to standard ones.
