The Batman and Robin for the Timberwolves have been out of sync in the first two games of the Western Conference finals.
While Anthony Edwards had a much better game than he did in Game 1, Julius Randle was ice cold in a 118-103 loss to the Thunder on Thursday. He scored just six points, had a -15 rating and was benched for the entirety of the fourth quarter.
Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch didn’t have much choice when it came to keeping Randle in the game. With Minnesota down 93-71 heading into the fourth, he needed to try to get something going offensively, and his star forward clearly didn’t have it tonight.

“Naz [Reid] had a good game going. Wanted to see if I could spread the floor, get some quick decision-making out there,” Finch said after the game.

Julius Randle stats Game 2 vs. Thunder
Randle struggled to get anything going offensively on Thursday, and his lack of aggression certainly played a part. The forward attempted only 11 field goals, resulting in just six points. The performance was a far cry from his Game 1, when Randle scored 28 points on 9-13 shooting, though most of that production came in the first half.

If the Timberwolves are going to mount a comeback in this series, Edwards and Randle are going to have to perform like they have all postseason. Both were averaging nearly 25 points per game heading into this series.

Adding to Randle’s tough night was the fact he had more turnovers (4) than made baskets (2).

The lowlight of the night for Randle was certainly getting benched in the fourth quarter. With his team trailing by 22, he wasn’t able to help them cut into the deficit at all.
