The Minnesota Timberwolves are seeking answers again in the offseason.
After reaching the Western Conference Finals for the second time, only to fall to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Timberwolves are evaluating their next steps.
Anthony Edwards has continued to blossom into a superstar, averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. However, despite his growth and their deep postseason runs, he has been unable to get them over the hump in recent years.
Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World proposes a blockbuster trade that would shake up the Timberwolves’ current roster and pair one of the league’s most explosive point guards with Edward.

“This would instantly become the most electric backcourt in the NBA. Pairing Ja Morant (23.2 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 7.3 APG) with Anthony Edwards gives Minnesota two high-octane shot-creators who can take over games on their own and devastate opponents in transition,” Bitar wrote.
He added, “Edwards has already shown he can thrive on-ball and off, and Morant, for all his chaos, is a relentless rim attacker who collapses defenses like few others. Together, they’d form a devastating blend of power, speed, and creativity. Defenders would be left guessing; help schemes would be shredded, and the pace? Good luck keeping up.”
The idea of giving up Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid would be a tough pill to swallow. McDaniels has emerged as one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, while Naz Reid, a former Sixth Man of the Year, has remained one of the better pivotal rotational players on the team.
That said, the idea of acquiring Ja Morant should be one that is worth considering.
Despite the lack of postseason success, Morant remains one of the most exciting players in the league; help led the Grizzlies to a 48-34 record in the NBA Playoffs. However, they fell in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, falling to the Thunder.
His ability to break down defenses and attack the rack would take some of the offensive load off Edwards while giving the Timberwolves another offensive option.
While the trade remains speculative, adding Morant next to Edwards would signal the Timberwolves’ intention to go all-in on a championship.
