Following its controversial win at the Anime Awards, Solo Leveling has now become Crunchyroll’s most-watched anime ever.

During a June 13 Fireside Chat, Sony revealed that as of March 2025, Solo Leveling is now the most viewed anime on Crunchyroll ever.

The show currently has a whopping 4.9 rating on the anime streaming platform, with 813.2k reviews, and sits at the top of the site’s most popular category, beating the likes of One Piece and Demon Slayer.

This may not come as a surprise, considering the anime managed to beat other popular shows like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Apothecary Diaries, and Dandadan at the anime awards – a point of contention amongst many anime fans.

Solo Leveling’s popularity doesn’t just stop there, as the anime has spawned its own gacha game (Solo Leveling: Arise) and an upcoming action RPG (Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE) is set for release in 2025.

So, when is season 3?

Despite its huge popularity, we still don’t have a confirmed release date for Solo Leveling season 3. However, during a Q&A event, Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi told fans that he’d “love to give the animators a little breathing room,” and that if it were up to him he’d “wait until the next Olympics [2028] to see what’s going to happen with a season 3.”

Of course, this isn’t direct confirmation that fans have to wait that long. After all, season 2 was released 12 months after the first season. So, it’s likely that season 3 will follow similar timings and release sometime in 2026.

Solo Leveling made headlines this year after it took home four accolades at the Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year and Best New Anime Series. According to Kakao Entertainment, a South Korean entertainment publishing company, the original webtoon adaptation received over 14.3 billion views worldwide in 2024.

This hype later led to the official anime adaptation being produced, with Japanese animation studio A-1 Pictures leading the charge. Since season one’s release on January 7, 2024, the punchy power fantasy show has quickly garnered a strong following, with millions of fans tuning in to see Sung Jinwoo level up and take down his enemies in style.

However, with the release of Season 2, Solo Leveling has cemented itself at the top.
