On a recent episode of his podcast, Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger said that Aaron Rodgers was a better quarterback in his prime than Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes is in his prime.

Roethlisberger made the statement on the “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger” podcast, saying he would take prime Rodgers over prime Mahomes.

“I would take Aaron in his prime over Patrick now,” Roethlisberger said. “I think Aaron Rodgers, in his prime, was one of the top few to ever do it.

“So is Patrick Mahomes in his prime,” he added. “Patrick Mahomes is just entering out of his prime. I think Patrick Mahomes is going to go down as another arguable GOAT.”

Roethlisberger’s comments caused quite the stir, and former NFL running back LeSean McCoy was one of the people to take issue with it.

“Big Ben hates,” McCoy said on FS1. “One thing about Big Ben, you play 18 years, you have no All-Pros, not one, not one first-team, not one second-team.

“This is just me, I don’t respect players that talk about greats a certain way and you have nowhere the type of success they had. You played for 18 years, and you never was considered the best quarterback, or the second-best quarterback in football.”

There is no question that Rodgers is an all-time great, and he was a sensational player in his prime.

However, the one thing working against Rodgers in a debate about who was better in their primes between he and Mahomes is the fact that Rodgers has one Super Bowl win after 20 years, and it came early in his career.

Meanwhile, Mahomes already has three in eight years. Rodgers sits with four MVP awards to Mahomes’ two, but the Kansas City signal-caller has plenty of time to catch him in that category.

While it’s certainly fair to disagree with Roethlisberger, McCoy’s response was way too over the top. It isn’t that serious, Shady.
