Music is one of the indispensable features of Death Stranding that makes every delivery feel special. In the first game, you could only listen to your music collection in a private room, and special songs were played at times during your journey. However, players wanted to listen to their favorite songs during their adventures, and their demands have been answered in the sequel. Death Stranding: On the Beach features a music player that can be used to play music from your in-game collection, but you need to unlock it first. In this guide, find out how to unlock the music player and create playlists in Death Stranding 2.

How to Unlock the Music Player in Death Stranding 2

Unfortunately, the music player feature is unavailable at the beginning of Death Stranding 2. So, you have to live without a music player in the missions within Mexico. But as you reach Australia, here is how you can unlock the portable music player:

1. Complete Order No. 11

Sam’s new journey brings him to the Australian continent. Here, you need to complete the Death Stranding 2 main order — “Destroy the Communications Disruptor and Deliver the Mysterious Recording to the Musician.”

Make sure to destroy the Chiral Jammer used by the Brigands first. Then, deliver the recording to the musician at the marked location. Once you complete the delivery, Sam will automatically use his Q-Pid to bring the musician into the new Chiral Network.

2. Gen Hoshino, The Musician Unlocks the Music Player

In the first game, Daichi Miura, the popular Japanese singer, appeared as one of the preppers. This time, it is none other than Gen Hoshino, another famous Japanese musician. You must be familiar with him already, as we have listened to his popular track “Pop Virus” countless times.

If you’re worried that the current song you are playing might interfere with the new tracks the game plays during specific missions, you don’t have to. The current playing song will fade slowly, and the new track will start smoothly.

The inclusion of a music player significantly boosted my spirits during my every adventure with Sam and Lou. With that said, what do you think about the new portable music player in Death Stranding 2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
