The Pittsburgh Steelers have a shaky situation in their wide receivers room.

After trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, the team is left with a similar situation to the one it faced in 2024.

DK Metcalf leads the wide receivers room, but the guys behind him like Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson and Robert Woods are hardly guaranteed to be adequate options to support Pittsburgh’s clear-cut No. 1.

The addition of Jonnu Smith no doubt helps the Steelers’ pass-catching group, but we’d still like to see another impact addition at wide receiver.

One player the Steelers should target is Green Bay Packers wideout, Romeo Doubs, who was recently predicted to land in Pittsburgh via trade by FanSided’s Cody Williams.

The wheeling-and-dealing Steelers are the most obvious option for a Doubs trade. With the arrival of Aaron Rodgers, Omar Khan’s actions have indicated that the franchise is all-in on trying to make a Super Bowl run this season. To do that, though, I’d still argue that they can’t go into the year with Calvin Austin III as their second receiving option. Doubs would be a dream opposite DK Metcalf and, if Pittsburgh is willing to part with more draft capital, he seems attainable.

Doubs was unhappy with his role last season, and now the Packers have added two more wideouts via the 2025 NFL draft, so it’s logical to think Green Bay could consider dealing the 25-year-old, who is also in the final year of his deal.

Of course, Doubs and Rodgers are already quite familiar with one another after playing together in 2022, which was Doubs’ rookie campaign.

The Nevada product tallied 425 yards and three scores that season, and Doubs was someone Rodgers was “very fond of,” according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

A two-time 600-yard receiver, Doubs could immediately solidify the No. 2 receiver role in Pittsburgh while also giving Rodgers a target he knows, something the veteran quarterback is a big fan of having.

With Doubs being on the final year of his contract, he can probably be acquired with a mid-Day 3 pick. For a Steelers team that is clearly going for it in 2025, giving that up shouldn’t be a difficult decision.
