Through three games, the Detroit Lions are now 2-1.
In a “Monday Night Football” matchup against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit held on for a 38-30 victory with seven sacks on the defensive end, plus 224 rushing yards on the offensive end. After a Week 1 loss, the Lions have now bounced back with big wins over the Chicago Bears and Ravens.
After the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell, well-known for his fiery press conferences whether win or loss, addressed the media. Campbell noted his team’s discipline in defending Lamar Jackson, but mostly focused on the all-around win, from Detroit’s key defensive stops to a huge day running the football.

As the Lions improved to 2-1, Campbell opened his press conference by noting how the Lions played “complementary football.”
“We did exactly what we said we needed to do,” Campbell said. “We didn’t let [Derrick] Henry get going, and Zay Flowers, we came away with takeaways and big stops. And offensively, we were able to control the ground and the time of possession. … I just thought it was an outstanding team effort.”
Campbell also offered his respect to the Ravens and John Harbaugh.
“We know what they’ve been for years. … They’re always competitive, and they’re always the cream of the crop over there in the AFC with a few teams,” Campbell said. “It just feels good to know against a type of team like that, you play a difference type of game, and we’re able to find a way to win.”
The Lions had multiple long drives down the field in Monday’s win, a key part in their ability to keep Lamar Jackson off the field. Campbell said the long drives were “big” for confidence on the road.

The Lions head coach said that in critical moments, “every unit picked up the slack,” naming players like Aidan Hutchinson and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Campbell also went into his defense’s discipline while going against Lamar Jackson.

When it comes to his 4th & 2 call to ice the game, Campbell noted his trust in his players.
“That’s been built up now, in five years. … We felt like that was the right call,” Campbell said. “They’ve earned that trust. … It’s a thing of beauty.”
