Ghost of Yotei, the ultimate sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, brings in many changes to its gameplay. While the skill system in GOT required you to level up your legend status to unlock new techniques on the go, Ghost of Yotei offers you a linear path to master a variety of skills. How to Unlock Atsu’s Techniques in Ghost of Yotei
Unlike in the first game, where you earned skill points as your legend grew by completing Jin Sakai’s quests, Sucker Punch decided to alter the system of unlocking skills in the latest title. In Ghost of Yotei, you don’t need any skill points to upgrade your techniques. Instead, you need to discover the Altar of Reflection spread throughout the regions of Ezo to unlock each skill individually.

So, here’s what you need to do to unlock a technique:
- First, you need to find an Altar of Reflection near you.
- Once you reach the Altar, swipe down the touchpad on your controller to bow before the shrine and offer your respects.
- Then, the skill tree page would pop up.
- The skill tree is split into three major sections: Onryo, Melee, and Revenge. There are a variety of techniques under the belt of each section, divided based on survival, weapons, horse, assassination, etc, aspects.
- Select the skill you need, and you also get a preview of your selected skill on the top right of your screen.
- Hold the cross button on your controller to let Atsu learn a new technique.
Where to Find the Altar of Reflections in Ghost of Yotei?

The only way to unlock skills and keep learning new techniques is to find all the Altars of Reflections in Ghost of Yotei. You will find yourself stumbling upon it in your exploration journey frequently, as they are evenly spread out on the ground, mountains, and even found in some enemy camps you need to clear.
The easiest way by far to find them is to purchase maps from Isaburo the Cartographer and place them. You can also follow a golden bird during your travels, which will occasionally lead you to an Altar.
