The Milwaukee Bucks aren’t having the best season in terms of their goals and ambitions. However, their star NBA Champion Giannis Antetokounmpo recently surpassed 20K points all-time. Not only did he reach such a major accomplishment, but he also decided to call out the people ahead of him by saying he was eventually going to surpass LeBron James for first place.
“I think when I’m going to be 35 years old and sitting in this chair, we are going to have a discussion how I am the top list of all time in scoring,” Antetokounmpo told the media.
Antetokounmpo was recently injured in a game and is now expected to be out for four weeks. This is a huge blow for the Bucks. However, NBA Champion Iman Shumphert believes that Antetokounmpo shut it down for trade purposes.
“Giannis cut corners. I could do it but imma sit down. I’m bout to get traded. He usually do play. Now he’s trynna get trade. We all know what’s going on,” Shumphert said.
Antetokounmpo has reportedly been discussing his future in Milwaukee, and there could be a trade on the horizon.
Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly had discussions recently with his teammates regarding the trade rumors currently surrounding him. Chris Haynes reported on NBA TV Tuesday night that Giannis spoke to his teammates in order to “stress the importance of focusing on basketball and not to allow outside distractions to interfere with the process at hand,” Bleacher Report’s Mike Chiari wrote. “Giannis reportedly made it clear that he is still with the Bucks and focused on working his way back from the strained calf injury that has him on the shelf. Antetokounmpo reportedly also told his teammates that he ‘can’t control’ what happens to him in terms of whether he remains with the Bucks or gets traded.”
Calling out one of the best players in the game and suggesting he is sitting out while waiting to be traded is a serious accusation. However, Antetokounmpo could simply be managing his injury more carefully if he believes he may be joining a contending team soon.
For a long time, it seemed like Antetokounmpo would spend his entire career in Milwaukee, but now the trade talk is starting to heat up. Shumphert seems to believe this is his plan to stay fully healthy for his next destination.
