The Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams played the biggest game of the 2025 NFL season so far on Thursday Night Football in Week 16.
With the game in Seattle, the home crowd was treated to an incredible comeback win in overtime, which featured a walk-off 2-point conversion.
But, a day after the game, young Seahawks pass rusher Derick Hall was the subject of a one-game suspension from the NFL for what was described as unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared on Twitter/x, “Seahawks linebacker Derickc Hall has been suspended for one game for an act of unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct during Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.”
The details of the suspension indicate that Hall, in the first quarter of the thrilling 38-37 overtime game, “unnecessarily stepped on the leg of Rams guard Kevin Dotson at the ned of a play while he was on the ground.”
Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team shared the play in which this suspension-worthy unsportsmanlike conduct occurred. The NFL is alleging that Hall stepped on Dotson on purpose, which is the reason for the one-game suspension.

Hall, as the pass rusher at the bottom of the video, can be seen stepping onto Dotson, who fell over behind Hall during his pass rush. Immediately after Hall steps on Dotson, Rams’ center Coleman Shelton shoves Hall, and the two get into a brief shoving match.
After the game, Dotson, one of the NFL’s best offensive guards, was seen walking with crutches and in a boot. Hall’s suspension stems from this play, and Dotson’s injury does as well.

Brady Henderson of ESPN reports that Hall plans to appeal the suspension, but for now, the young Seahawks linebacker is suspended for their upcoming Week 17 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Hall has 29 tackles, one sack, and two passes defended this season. The third-year pass rusher had 30 tackles and three tackles for loss in his rookie season, and in 2024, he had 36 tackles, six tackles for loss, and eight sacks in his best season yet.
The 24-year-old linebacker is now slated to miss the Seahawks penultimate game this season. He’s appealing this suspension, but if upheld, he will be able to return to the Seahawks for their Week 18 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
