Dante Moore’s decision to stay at Oregon has drastically altered first round plans in the 2026 NFL Draft. Now only Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza of Indiana remains as a legitimate quarterback worthy of a top-five grade.
This leaves QB needy teams in a brutal bind. For the Cleveland Browns, this reality check is immediate. No signal-caller is worthy of their first of two opening round selections at sixth overall.
The Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 1 pick, and are desperate for their own franchise saving signal-caller. It would seem ridiculous to think they would trade out of that spot to the Browns, or any other club.
Seemingly the next QB in line is Alabama’s Ty Simpson. While the odd mock draft has slotted Cleveland to reach for him at No. 6, the consensus thinking is that the team would be better off to fill other glaring needs on offense.

Here’s the latest mock on how the Browns react to the Moore news with their picks at six and 24:
6. Tyson Jordan, WR, Arizona State (6’2″, 200-lbs)
Given how weak this draft class is at quarterback, the Cleveland Browns are most likely going to have to stick with the quarterbacks currently on the roster. The Browns have a nice young nucleus of weapons, and they’d be wise to continue adding pieces on the outside as they try to find their quarterback. Jordyn Tyson would bring size to the outside, giving whoever plays quarterback a clear top WR to build the offense around.
24. Caleb Lomu, OT, Utah (6’6″, 304-lbs)
The Browns are going to need to address the offensive line this offseason as the unit wasn’t nearly good enough to support having two rookie quarterbacks under center. Adding Caleb Lomu to the offense would be perfect as he’s been an elite pass protector and could slot in as the future at either tackle position.
This combo of wide receiver and offensive tackle makes perfect sense for a Cleveland unit ranked 31st in average points-per-game this past season. Building up those two position groups is the best way to see if Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson or Dillon Gabriel can truly be a viable starting option moving forward.
