The Seahawks offense might have not been all that effective during its Super Bowl 60 win over the Patriots on Sunday night. But running back Kenneth Walker certainly was.

The Michigan State alum was Seattle’s biggest offensive weapon when matched up against New England’s vaunted defense. He recorded a season-high tally in rushing yards, gashing the Patriots as the Seahawks downed their AFC adversary, 29-13.

Walker looked to have ended his showcase in style, prancing into the end zone from 49 yards out as the clock dwindled. At least, that’s what gamblers thought.

Here’s what you need to know about Walker’s score that wasn’t, a decision that proved costly to bettors across the world.

Why was Kenneth Walker touchdown called back?

Walker looked to have capped off his glistening Super Bowl 60 display with a race to the pylon, an apt finish to a performance that saw him pile up 135 yards on 27 carries.

As he approached the finish line, he blew a kiss to the Seattle faithful. In the concourses, Seahawks fans swooned. So too did gamblers, many of whom banked on the Seattle star finding traipsing into the end zone at some point during the action.

But moments before Walker breached the plane, a canary fell to the turf. The Seahawks running back’s score was called off, deemed illegal due to an offensive holding call on Seattle center Jalen Sundell.

Replay review appeared to exonerate the officials for their call. Nevertheless, that didn’t assuage the concerns of those who placed money on Walker for his scoring prowess.
