The New York Jets have been making some big changes to the defensive side of the ball in the last year since Aaron Glenn took over.
And this offseason is going to feature more changes. Jermaine Johnson was already traded away, and while it might not be a trade, a different veteran defender is on his way out.
As ESPN’s Rich Cimini notes, the Jets are expected to cut ties with an All-Pro linebacker who is the brother of Quinnen Williams. A few months after the Jets traded Williams to the Dallas Cowboys, his brother, Quincy Williams, is set to leave in free agency.
Jets expected to cut ties with Quincy Williams
“FA most likely on the move: LB Quincy Williams,” Cimini writes. “He had a nice run in New York, making first-team All-Pro in 2023, but his star faded last season, and he’s not a great fit in the new 3-4 front. He could look to reunite with brother Quinnen on the Cowboys.”
Quincy Williams is expected to hit free agency, and with a lack of a scheme fit in the Jets’ defense with Glenn calling the plays, Williams is set to find a new team in free agency.
The 29-year-old linebacker spent the last five years with the Jets and made 73 starts across 78 games played. This past season, he played in just 12 games and saw his snap share drop significantly from over 1,000 in 2023 and 2024 to under 800 in 2025.

This past season, Williams recorded seven passes defended, 3.5 sacks, 83 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits.
Compared to his 2023 All-Pro season, in which he had one interception, 10 passes defended, two forced fumbles, two sacks, 139 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and four quarterback hits, his 2025 season was a big let-down.
Williams is likely to find a new home this offseason, likely in a 4-3 scheme that’s a fit for the veteran All-Pro. Reuniting with this brother on the Cowboys would be a fun storyline, but regardless of where he goes this offseason, it’s not expected to be back with the Jets.
