A lot of shooters who grew up during the late 2000s up to late 2010s only wanted to wear a pair of shoes from one person: Stephen Curry. The brand was always Under Armour for these kids and they would chuck the ball up from far out as if they were the Golden State Warriors star. Unsurprisingly, the sales were insane when he became the face of the brand. Since November 2025, this is no longer the case and the Curry is selling his prized shoes at an auction.
Why Warriors’ Curry is auctioning off more than 70 shoes
A lot of this might be decluttering. Obviously, he just has two feet and it will be hard to maintain this amount of sneakers. Curry has also chosen to wear different brands since his deal with Under Armour ended. During games, he is often spotted with various shoes whether it’s signatures from Sabrina Ionescu made by Nike or a more vintage sneaker like a Reebok that Allen Iverson used to wear. So, the Warriors star is expanding his collection too.
More than all of that, this could all be a signal of finally letting go and moving on from Under Armour. See, Curry has been with the brand since 2013. The Warriors star even got an extension with them back in 2023 but everything crumbled when his shoe line started to get mismanaged. He got real on why this auction means a lot to him, via Jason Jones of The Athletic.
“That’s always been the bigger purpose for me. There’s no better feeling than being able to celebrate the game and enjoy everything around it, while also opening doors and giving back. I hope these special pairs that were part of a key time in my sneaker journey can carry that same energy forward,” he declared.
The Warriors star has not yet made a decision about his sneaker free agency. More than that, there is also a possibility that Curry would not sign a new contract with any other shoe brand at all. Despite all of the business decisions and clashing heads with the Under Armour deal, he could not help but be sentimental about these shoes before the auction.
“I’ve always believed that every pair of sneakers tells a story. This collection really captures a unique chapter for me during my sneaker free agency this season. From the tunnel walks to the on-court warmups to the games across the country, I was excited to spend this time shining a light on players over the years who have left their mark on the sneaker game,” the Warriors star added.
Curry will be focusing on leading the Warriors to the NBA Playoffs while all of this is happening. Hopefully, his heart is full with all the memories in those Under Armour sneakers.
