John Marston must be the latest outlaw in Wild Wild history. The original Red Dead Redemption was first released on PS3 and Xbox way back in the day. While rumors persisted for years that the open-world Old West masterpiece would eventually come out for PC, nothing happened. The fact that last year even the nintendo switch Having an RDR port is especially cruel for PC gamers around the world.

Well, wipe away those tears, son. There may finally be some good news about the release of Red Dead Redemption for PC… even if said news seems 14 years late. The latest rumors about the arrival of the sensational Marston sandbox to one of the best gaming laptops come from the well-known dataminer complexion2 (thank you, pc gamer). Although, as with any rumor, keep a salt shaker next to your desk, just in case.

Earlier today, Tez2 posted a new code via the Rockstar Launcher, the content of which certainly suggests that Red Dead Redemption could be released for PC in the not-too-distant future. The key part of the discovered code is the following text, which doesn’t leave much room for interpretation: “Travel through the vast expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie horror companion, Undead Nightmare now. available on PC.”

Rockstar has made PC gamers who want to experience the developer’s iconic games waiting a long time. Both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 saw their PC versions release a full year after their console equivalents, although it now seems like a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it period of time compared to the 14 years it would take Marston to take on. the best PCs.

It’s quite baffling that Rockstar has kept its cowboy away from Steam and other PC platforms for so long, not only because RDR was successful on PS3 and Xbox 360 back in the day, but because Valve’s platform reportedly has 132 million monthly active users (thanks, demandswise)

West is better

As someone who loves Rockstar’s masterful western and its incredible prequel. Red Dead Redemption 2 – that works brilliantly on PC – Obviously I hope this rumor comes true. All Rockstar has to do is scrap the same basic port that Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 received last year. Especially since the latter quickly received a treatment free update to 60 fps that instantly makes it the best version of Red Dead you can play.

Don’t get me wrong, Arthur Morgan’s sad prequel is superior in almost every way. The map is larger and more varied. The hunting system is much more nuanced and there are many more creatures to stalk. And some of the scenes during those 93 campaign missions are surprisingly well done. Its 12-hour epilogue is also some of the best storytelling I’ve ever witnessed in a video game.

“I’ve been playing video games since 1993, only the ending of Red Dead and the prologue of The Last of Us have made me physically cry”

However, the only way Marston surpasses Morgan is in the final act with the perfect pacing of his game. I won’t give too much away the details for any PC gamers who’ve been playing a lot of waiting games, just know that it’s both a warm character study and a devastating commentary on revenge. I’ve been playing video games since 1993, only the ending of Red Dead and the prologue of The Last of Us have made me physically cry.

While I could turn on my PS5 right now and boot up Red Dead Redemption in 4K at 60 frames per second, I still hope PC gamers get the same opportunity in the near future.
