Manchester United hope to turn around their midweek disappointment as they host plucky Bournemouth in Premier League action on Sunday.

The Red Devils found themselves agonizingly short of an improbable comeback against Tottenham in a wacky EFL Cup quarterfinal defeat. The early 3-0 deficit was just too much to overcome, even as Spurs tried their hardest to give away the game.

New Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim has tinkered heavily with his starting lineup, still figuring out who fits in what positions throughout his patented 3-4-3 system.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, have found themselves as high as sixth in the Premier League table coming into the weekend on the back of a four-match unbeaten run. They have managed to generate good attacking play despite a host of injuries which have depleted some of their most inspiring forwards.

With Mason Mount out injured, all eyes will be on the Manchester United left wing to see if Alejandro Garnacho will be the man selected, or if Ruben Amorim will go with a more central operator like Kobbie Mainoo or Christian Eriksen in that position.

Mount picked up another muscle injury early in the Manchester derby last weekend, prompting him to see a specialist in an attempt to solve the repeated issues. Garnacho was left on the bench in place of Antony for the midweek EFL Cup defeat, but the Dutch winger was invisible.

Aside from Mount, the only player with a fitness concern for the Red Devils is Luke Shaw who remains sidelined for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury.

Man United predicted XI (3-4-3, right to left): Onana (GK) — de Ligt, Maguire, L. Martinez — Diallo, Mainoo, Ugarte, Dalot — Fernandes, Hojlund, Garnacho.

Injured: Mount (muscle), Shaw (hamstring).Suspended: None.

Bournemouth are struggling to keep up with a number of fitness concerns that have sapped their creative buildup. They are missing bright attacking stars Marcus Tavernier and Luis Sinisterra who are both out for a few weeks with muscle injuries.

American international Tyler Adams has returned from his long-term back problem and will hope to build himself to full match fitness in an effort to be available for starting selection.

He came off the bench last time out, and considering he’s hardly played in the last two seasons, he will likely not be ready yet for the XI.

It will be interesting to see if goals off the bench in consecutive matches will be enough to see Enis Unal into the lineup at striker, or if Andoni Iraola will stick with regular starter Evanilson who has not scored in five straight starts.

Bournemouth predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Kepa (GK) — A. Smith, Zabarnyi, Huijsen, Kerkez — Christie, Cook — Semenyo, Kluivert, Ouattara — Evanilson.

Injured: Araujo (hamstring), Senesi (muscle), A. Scott (knee), Sinisterra (muscle), Tavernier (hamstring).Suspended: None.
