Apple Intelligence has been rolled out to iOS 18.1 beta users, but not everyone has access to it. Apple’s AI features are still in beta, and you need to join a waitlist to get Apple Intelligence features. If you’re interested in testing out these AI features, here’s how you can join the Apple Intelligence waitlist on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Apple Intelligence Waitlist Prerequisites
- You must have an Apple Intelligence enabled device.
- The device must be running iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, or macOS 15.1 Sequoia. (Here’s how to install iOS 18 beta)
- If you are not located in the United States, go to Settings > General > Language & Region and set the region and language to United States and English (United States) respectively to access Apple Intelligence features.

- If the Apple Intelligence and Siri option is not available even after changing the language and region, also set the Siri language to English (United States).
Now that you’ve completed the prerequisites, here’s how to join the Apple Intelligence waitlist.
Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist
- Open the Settings app, then tap Apple Intelligence & Siri
- Here, tap Join Waitlist.
- You will see the message “Joined the waiting list”.

How long does it take to join the Apple Intelligence waitlist?
In my experience, it took me about 15-30 minutes to join the Apple Intelligence waitlist on both my iPhone and Mac. The Apple Intelligence wait time isn’t very long, but in rare cases, you may have to wait up to an hour. And yes, the waitlist isn’t specific to an Apple account, but rather to a device. This means that if you joined the Apple Intelligence waitlist on your iPhone, you’ll still need to request to be added to the waitlist on your Mac and iPad, even if you’re signed in with the same Apple ID.
Once you’ve been approved for Apple Intelligence, you’ll receive an approval notification and can start using Apple Intelligence features like writing tools, cleaning, typing to Siri, webpage summarization, and more.
