The Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder have both clinched a playoff berth. With nothing but seeding on the line Thursday, the crowd still managed a fiery exchange.

Luka Doncic has been red-hot this month and he started once again for the Lakers. Despite tweaking his hamstring during the first half, the Lakers’ training staff cleared him to return in the second half. However, in the third quarter of the contest with the Thunder, Doncic fell to the ground with his left hamstring aggravated.

As the Lakers’ star guard waited for a trainer underneath the basket, a Thunder fan began to heckle Doncic from the crowd. While Doncic received help from the trainer, Austin Reaves did not take kindly to the fan’s comment.

The exchange was caught on video by a fan and later posted online.

Austin Reaves confronts fan for heckling injured Luka Doncic

Lakers’ teammates circled Doncic on the court. As the Lakers’ trainer tended to the Slovenian guard, one fan yelled, “Now you know what it’s like to play defense.”

Without hesitation, Reaves clapped back at the fan, saying, “Shut the f— up. Shut up. He’s f—ing hurt.” The two shared a pair of “F— you” exchanges afterward.

Once Doncic was helped off the court, Reaves approached the fan directly, repeatedly telling them to “have some respect.” Eventually, Reaves was guided back to the court and the interaction subsided. Some Lakers teammates looked on as Reaves approached the Thunder fan, but none of them interacted with this heckler.

Reaves also briefly left Thursday’s contest with an injury concern. He grabbed at his left side and received medical evaluation in the Lakers’ locker room before returning later in the contest.

Doncic will undergo an MRI tomorrow, head coach JJ Redick explained postgame. He was not asked about Reaves’ comments or the fan interaction. Reaves’ postgame comments were mainly centered on the results of the game, saying that the Thunder “beat the s— out of us.”
