On Tuesday, the Chicago Bears invited a player they faced this preseason back to their facility for a closer look.
National Football League Insider Aaron Wilson reported that the Bears have signed former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chris Oladokun.
Oladokun, selected in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, spent the last two seasons on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad. Kansas City released him during roster cuts in August.
He started for the Chiefs against the Bears in the final preseason game. Oladokun completed nine of 16 passes for 66 yards and two interceptions as the Bears won 34-21.
In three preseason games, he completed 22 of 33 passes for 250 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. He rushed six times for 19 yards and was sacked twice.
He was active in the Chiefs’ 2023 regular-season finale as Blaine Gabbert’s backup while Patrick Mahomes was out with an ankle injury. Oladokun has yet to appear in a game, but he does own a pair of Super Bowl rings.
The Bears have two quarterbacks on their current roster, first-round picks Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent, and undrafted rookie Austin Reed on their practice squad.
Oladokun began his college career at South Florida before transferring to Samford in 2019. He played his final season of college football at South Dakota State, where he threw for 3,164 yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions, earning All-Missouri Valley Conference honorable mention honors.
