If you’re looking for a good laugh, you need to check out this week’s. Real Time with Bill Maher interview, in which Martin Short’s comic character Jiminy Glick was seen criticizing the HBO host.
Glick, who has interviewed many celebrities over the years, came out of retirement to chat with Maher about his new book. What this comedian said will surprise you.
As usual, Glick spent most of the time interrupting Maher, asking about other celebrities and talking about himself. He also mocked Maher and made several jokes at her expense throughout the talk.
“I love this book,” Glick said while holding up a copy. Then he quickly admitted: “I haven’t read it. No, I have read it cover to cover, but nothing inside. But it is said to be a delight.”
At one point, Glick asked Maher, “Everyone seems to love your book, but why criticize Harriet Tubman?” to which Maher denied while she chuckled. Glick continued: “Well, my assistant is rarely wrong, but her book is a triumph. What does he owe his success to, low expectations… How does it feel to dominate a dying medium?
In response to Glick’s question about “mastering a dying medium,” Maher attempted to get serious and talk about a decline in reading in the modern world. However, in the middle of his comment, Glick pretended to fall asleep.
Shortly after waking up, Glick joked: “I’ve always loved Bill Maher’s opinions… Opinions on COVID, the whole COVID thing. “I ‘love’ getting medical advice from a club act.”
Maher then tried to give his two cents on the pandemic, but Glick apparently lost interest and then asked Maher: “Apart from [Scientology founder] L. Ron Hubbard, who has influenced you?
Glick concluded his line of questioning by asking Maher, “Other than lacking one, what do you think your comedy legacy will be?”
Before Maher had a chance to respond, Glick continued sarcastically: “Really, Bill, because everyone loves you. They do. I mean, Republicans don’t like you, Democrats don’t like you… but your wife and your kids do.” (Maher is not married and has no children)
Glick then once again praised Maher’s book before telling the host, “I feel like boring, tedious guests make me a better interviewer, so thank you.”
