New Orleans Pelicans star forward Brandon Ingram was not present at the team’s voluntary weeklong minicamp, according to Will GuilloryIngram was one of two players who did not participate in camp, the other being new signing Daniel Theis.
Ingram was selected to the All-Star Game in the 2019-20 season and also won the Most Improved Player award that year. Last season, he averaged 20 points, five rebounds and six assists per game.
So why didn’t Ingram show up for minicamp? Probably because he wants out. The Pels expected him to be there, so his absence is quite concerning for the team. Additionally, Ingram has been in demand by the Pels, with teams like the Utah Jazz showing interest in him. Ingram has also taken on the role of sidekick to the team’s new main star, Zion Williamson, who appears poised for a career-defining year.
It’s a safe bet that Ingram will be on a new team at the trade deadline or even before. There are a bunch of teams that would love to have him with what he brings to the table.
