The San Francisco 49ers used the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to select Brock Purdy out of Iowa State. There weren’t many expectations for Mr. Irrelevant, but it didn’t take long for San Francisco to praise the move.
The Niners were down Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo due to injuries and forced to turn to Purdy in Week 13 of the 2022 regular season. The rookie came into the game, finished with 210 yards and two touchdowns, and never gave the job back.
Purdy led the 49ers to back-to-back NFC West titles, but San Francisco has gotten off to a slow start this season due to several big injuries on both sides of the ball.
The Niners will look to pick up an important divisional win in Week 6 when they take on the Seahawks on ‘Thursday Night Football’ in Week 6. Ahead of that matchup, let’s take a look at how Brock Purdy has done against his division so far in his career.

In the regular season, Purdy is 7-2 against the NFC West. If you include the postseason, he picks up an extra win to move to 8-2. Purdy has gone from Mr. Irrelevant to a problem for the division. Arizona was the second divisional game that Purdy played. In his debut against them, he finished with 178 yards and three touchdowns. The Cardinals finally got revenge against him in Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season and picked up their first win over the quarterback. Overall, Purdy is 3-1 against Arizona, not counting a game in which he only had three carries for three yards.

Based on the way the schedule has fallen based on when the Niners have faced the Rams, Purdy has played LA the least out of his NFC West Divisional opponents. He has only seen them twice and has split the games. San Francisco played LA in Week 18, but Purdy sat to rest up for the playoffs.
