The Milwaukee Bucks have told star center Brook Lopez they have no intention of trading him, according to Brian WindhorstThis comes after the team considered trading him in June.
Lopez is a good center, and he was a top-10 pick. Lopez was a two-time All-Defense first-teamer, an All-Star and an NBA champion with the Bucks. He averaged 16 points, five rebounds, one and a half assists and two blocks per game in his career.
Lopez has been a key player in the Bucks’ team chemistry, serving as a defensive anchor with Giannis Antetokounmpo, and a secondary offensive option with Khris Middleton for Giannis and Damian Lillard.
Lopez also learned to shoot three-pointers to help expand the floor and give Giannis more room to drive, shooting 35 percent from beyond the arc.
Trading Lopez could have been beneficial for the Bucks, as he is an aging star and has recently regressed. However, their last trade to get rid of one of their stars for a superstar didn’t really work out. The Bucks traded Jrue Holiday for Lillard, and Lillard wasn’t as productive as he was in Portland. Holiday did find success, however, winning his second title with the Boston Celtics.
Instead of gambling, the Bucks appear to be taking the safe bet on Lopez and keeping him for the near future.
