According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun TimesThe Chicago Bulls are looking to re-engage star point guard Zach Lavine. The move comes after Lavine was offered as the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade to multiple playoff contenders.
Over his career, Lavine has averaged 20.5 points, five rebounds, four assists and shot nearly 40 percent from three-point range. Lavine is also a two-time All-Star with the Bulls and led them to a playoff appearance in 2022 and a handful of play-in tournament appearances.
After failing to trade Lavine this offseason, it appears the Bulls are putting the rebuild on hold while trying to keep Lavine happy and willing to play. Even with DeMar DeRozan gone, the Bulls are still a borderline play-in team.
What the Bulls are probably doing is trying to keep LaVine happy, so he can play, show what he can do, and then trade him before the deadline to one of the teams they’ve offered him to before. Teams like the LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets, and even go home to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
All of these teams could thrive with Lavine, and vice versa. Hopefully he can find a place on a team that can actually use his talent to try to win a title.
