Fuel is your number one source for powering certain machines in Satisfactory mode, and there are many different types, such as diluted fuel, turbofuel, and even rocket fuel.
If you plan to power your vehicles or a Jetpack, you will need to resort to Fuel. Not only are there different recipes, but there are also variations that can bring better potency to your creations.
We’ll tell you how to create and farm fuel for yourself, as well as the different types available in Satisfactory and which are the best to craft.
Every Fuel Recipe in Satisfactory

Although players can start collecting fuel after level 5 – Oil Processing, all of this will usually come from a refinery used on a crude oil node. Here are all the ways you can make Basic Fuel in Satisfactory Mode.
Fuel
This is the basic fuel recipe you should start with.
- Ingredients: x6 Crude oil
- To go out: x4 Fuel + x3 Polymer Resin
- Building: Refinery
Residual fuel
Once you start making heavy oil residue as a byproduct, you can also turn it into fuel.
- Ingredients: x6 Heavy oil residue
- To go out: x4 Fuel
- Building: Refinery
Diluted fuel
Diluted fuel is an alternative recipe for fuel that can be used in place of the regular recipe if you want a higher yield.
- Ingredients: x5 Heavy Oil Residues + x10 Water
- To go out: x10 Fuel
- Building: Mixer
Unpack the fuel
If you have packaged fuel and wish to remove it, you will need to follow this process.
- Ingredients: x2 Packaged fuel
- To go out: x2 Fuel + x2 Empty Can
- Building: Packer
All the ways to use fuel
Although fuel can be used in some crafting recipes, it is most practical for powering items like vehicles or Jetpacks (be sure to pack these first). You can also use them with fuel generators.
- Thermofused frame (Alt): With Heavy Modular Frame x1, Nitric Acid x8, Fuel x10 and Aluminum Ingots x50. Useful for crafting the upgraded Miner Mk.3 and a particle accelerator.
- Recycled rubber (Alt): With plastic x6 and fuel x6. Rubber is useful for crafting items such as the Modular Engine, Gask Mask, Jetpack, etc.
- Recycled plastic (Alt): With rubber x6 and fuel x6. Plastic is suitable for many items such as computers, circuit boards, empty cans, etc.
- Packaged fuel: With x2 fuel and x2 empty cans. This is useful for transporting your fuel with conveyor belts.
Besides these recipes, it is also used to prepare Turbofuelbut we will return to it in the next section as it is an essential resource.
Every Turbofuel recipe in Satisfactory

Acting as an upgraded version of normal fuel, Turbofuel is unlockable through the Sulfur research string in MAM. Let’s look at all the ways you can make turbofuel.
Turbofuel
The Turbofuel recipe in its most basic form.
- Ingredients: x6 Fuel + x4 Compacted Coal
- To go out: x5 Turbofuel
- Building: Refinery
Heavy turbofuel
An alternative recipe for turbofuel that uses heavy oil residue instead of fuel.
- Ingredients: x5 Heavy oil residue + x4 Compacted coal
- To go out: x4 Turbofuel
- Building: Refinery
Turbo blend fuel
Another alternative recipe to produce even more turbofuel using more ingredients.
- Ingredients: x2 Fuel + x3 Sulfur + x4 Heavy oil residue + x3 Petroleum coke
- To go out: x6 Turbofuel
- Building: Mixer
Unboxing the turbofuel
If you packed Turbofuel, here’s how you’ll empty it for use.
- Ingredients: x2 Packaged Turbofuel
- To go out: x2 Turbofuel + x2 Empty can
- Building: Packer
All the ways to use turbofuel
Turbofuel, just like normal fuel, is used to power Jetpacks and vehicles, as well as fuel generators. Otherwise, it can be used in these crafting recipes:
- Turbo rifle ammo: With x3 turbofuel, x3 aluminum casing and x25 rifle ammo. Useful for rifle ammo.
- Packaged turbofuel: With x2 Turbofuel and x2 Empty Can. For transport on conveyor belts.
Turbofuel is also used in the creation Rocket fuelwhich we will detail below.
Every Rocket Fuel recipe in Satisfactory

This very powerful fuel type is unlocked through the Sulfur research string in the MAM and is a gas rather than a liquid. Here are all the recipes that can make Rocket Fuel satisfying.
Rocket fuel
The basic Rocket Fuel recipe.
- Ingredients: x6 Turbofuel + x1 Nitric Acid
- To go out: x10 Rocket fuel + x1 Compacted coal
- Building: Mixer
Nitro rocket fuel
An alternative recipe for rocket fuel that requires different ingredients.
- Ingredients: x4 Fuel + x4 Sulfur + x3 Nitrogen gas + x2 Coal
- To go out: x6 Rocket fuel + x1 Compacted coal
- Building: Mixer
Unpacking Rocket Fuel
A way to remove Rocket Fuel from its packaging once you need it.
- Ingredients: x1 Packaged rocket fuel
- To go out: x2 Rocket fuel + x1 Empty fluid tank
- Building: Packer
All the Ways to Use Rocket Fuel
Just like other types of fuel, Rocket Fuel is used to power fuel generators, as well as vehicles and Jetpacks. Other than that, you can use it to craft these items:
- Ionized fuel: With x16 Rocket Fuel and x1 Power Shard. This is a much more powerful version of Rocket Fuel.
- Packaged rocket fuel: With x2 Rocket Fuel and x1 Empty Fluid Tank. Useful for transport on conveyor belts.
What is the best fuel type in the Satisfactory category?
The best type of fuel you can use in Satisfactory mode is Ionized fuel. Rocket Fuel would be a notch below, and below that would be Turbofuel and Fuel. Here is the amount of energy emitted by each type of fuel:
- Fuel: 750 MJ
- Turbofuel: 2,000 MJ
- Rocket fuel: 3,600 MJ
- Ionized fuel: 5,000 MJ
As you can see from these numbers, you’ll eventually want to craft ionized fuel late in the game to get as much power as possible into your fuel generators and so on.
Speaking of power supply, you should also learn how to build a coal generator for your own power plants, as well as an efficient train system.
