Convallaria’s Sword Flame Witch is a unit that functions exactly as you’d expect. She uses fiery magic during battle, burning enemies and chipping away at their health when not dealing area damage. Those affected by her fire will also suffer major consequences, as this build allows her to deal additional damage to burned targets.

The Flame Witch is an underrated epic character in this endless RPG, and she’s well worth adding to your team, especially if you’re a fan of your Drifter or Aggression faction units. So without further ado, here’s our Convallaria Sword Flame Witch Team Composition and Build.

Best Flame Witch Build with Convallaria’s Sword

The Flame Witch’s trait shares the same name as Sword of Convallaria’s and increases her ATK by a percentage based on her star level. Additionally, it allows her to lock onto a random enemy within four tiles at the end of a turn and inflict Burn on them, causing them to lose 10% of their HP per turn.

This will come in handy, especially once the Flame Witch unlocks the rank 7 Pyroblast skill. That said, a Flame Witch can be built in two ways: fiery AoE damage or single-target kills. To really get the most out of the unit, we’ve opted to use a bit of both, giving the unit an AoE attack and a few very powerful single-target kills later on so that it can be more versatile.

Here are the skills we recommend for this Flame Witch build:

  • Rank 1 – Pillar of Fire: Select a location and deal 70% fire area damage to all enemies within a one-tile radius around the location.
  • Rank 3 – Wind Rider: Increases movement distance by two tiles and grants immunity to movement debuffs to all allies within two tiles of the Flame Witch for two turns.
  • Rank 5 – Firewalking: Become immune to burning and burning tiles. While on a burning tile, DMG taken is reduced by 10%. At the end of the turn, recover 20% of your HP.
  • Rank 7 – Pyroblast: Single-target attack. Deals 170% magic damage. If the target is affected by Burn, deals 200% magic damage instead.
  • Rank 9 – Burning Attack: Deals 80% magic damage and inflicts Burn on the target for two turns.

At Rank 1, you can choose between another buff to Flame Witch’s ATK or equipping her with an AoE attack. Since we’re going to be going the AoE route in part with this build, Pillar of Fire is a great fit for us, allowing Flame Witch to deal fire-infused AoE damage to multiple targets early in the game. The downside is the one-tile radius, but it’s a way to clear out some space quickly.

At Rank 3, Wind Rider is our favorite ability, as it grants all nearby allies bonus movement and immunity to movement debuffs for two turns. Movement can be very important in Sword of Convallaria, and this ability can be useful for all characters, especially if the Flame Witch summons flaming tiles all over the battlefield.

If you’re not afraid to invest in the Flame Witch and want even more from her kit, you might also want to consider using Castalia to unlock the Rank 3 Blazing skill. This allows the Flame Witch to inflict Burn on a random injured target within three tiles at the end of her turn, for two turns. This is useful for slowly chipping away at enemy targets’ HP, and also for getting the devastating 200% DMG that the Witch’s later Rank 9 skill, Scorching Attack, can deal.

For our rank 5 skill, we chose Firewalk, which grants the Flame Witch some immunity to burning and burning tiles. This means she can move over them and take minimal damage, before also recovering her HP.

The Flame Witch’s Rank 7 and 9 skills are easy to pick, as they are both powerful and infused with fire. Pyroblast deals 170% magic damage, but this is increased to 200% if a target is already affected by Burn, while Searing Attack deals 80% magic damage before burning the target for two turns.

If you prefer your Flame Witch to have more area-of-effect abilities, you might consider replacing Pyroblast with Incinerating Formation, which requires a turn to prepare before dealing 85% area-of-effect fire damage to all enemies within one cell of her. This attack works similarly to the rank 1 ability, Pillar of Fire, though it deals more damage and has a longer range.

Personally, I think Pyroblast is a much more powerful and useful attack for particularly annoying enemies, but choose what is most useful for your playstyle and team.

Flame Witch Team Lineups

The Flame Witch is primarily a member of the Wanderers faction in Sword of Convallaria, so we’ll be looking at the faction allies she pairs well with. That said, many of the Wanderers’ units are Legendary, as the faction doesn’t have any Bronze units, so you may have to get creative with which units you choose to use in combat against the Flame Witch.

Additionally, your party in Sword of Convallaria will often be variable, unless you’re working to complete the end-game content, Tower of Conquest. Who you take into battle will depend on the enemies you face and their weaknesses, as well as the terrain you’re fighting on.

For example, you might find yourself facing a group of Destroyer-type characters, so you’ll need more Seekers. Or let’s say there are multiple explosive barrels to use, you’ll probably need a ranged character to handle them.

Another rule of thumb is to try to bring a tank unit, a healer unit, and at least two DPS units with you. You’ll also want to keep your team’s damage output in mind, making sure you have enough physical and magical attackers to counter enemy units.

That being said, let’s talk about the units you can consider. For your healer, Inanna is among the best around, but the F2P epic unit, Angel, is also a fantastic dedicated healer. If you want to stick to the Drifter faction as much as possible, though, Nightingale is a Seeker unit with plenty of healing abilities that you can try out.

As for tank units, the best unit in the Drifter faction is Alexei, a legendary character. He is one of the few defenders in the game and arguably the best defender right now, so consider him whenever possible. Alternatively, an easier non-Drifter tank unit to acquire is the Suppression faction of the Papal States.

When it comes to DPS units, you have a lot more choice. However, since the Flame Witch is a magical attacker with minimal range, you’ll probably want to consider physical and ranged attackers here. Edda is a solid choice here, as is Col with his assassin skill set. For another magical attacker that can stack debuffs after debuffs, however, you can try Abyss.

For ranged attackers, Miguel is an archer and a great choice for any Drifter team, especially if you choose to unlock the Drifter World Leader Aura skill for him. This allows him to increase the ATK and DEF of all Drifter allies in battle. You can also consider Guzman or Stormbreaker as another physical attacker if you have one.
