Sword of Convallaria features a plethora of characters to unlock and experiment with, and many of them, even low rarity ones, have great utility that can be used in combat. Burst is just one of the many epic characters you can get your hands on that are surprisingly good, able to greatly increase his team’s survivability while landing attacks.
With a kit that consists of passive attacks and heals, Flare is able to damage enemies while healing her team. She’s not exactly a dedicated healer, and I wouldn’t give up on having one for her when venturing into the late game, but she’s great for keeping your team safe while landing attacks with the right setup. Speaking of which, here’s our Convallaria Flare Sword Team Composition and Build.
Best Flare Sword of Convallaria Build
Flare’s kit in Sword of Convallaria is incredibly useful, with many skills that allow her to heal her allies while attacking. She is also able to buff her allies and debuff her enemies, making her a great support character for most teams, especially those that gravitate towards the Union faction.
Flare’s trait, Dazzling Light, grants her the ability Block, which allows her to block magical attacks while increasing her physical ATK by a percentage based on her star level. This gives her a huge advantage over magic-wielding characters right from the start.
To help you get the most out of his kit, here are the skills we recommend:
- Rank 1 – Suppressive Blow: Single target attack. Deals 110% DMG and prevents the target from using reaction skills, passive skills, and active skills for two turns.
- Rank 3 – Dedication: Passive. After launching an active attack, the character recovers 15% of HP for all other allies within a two-square radius.
- Rank 5 – Battlefield Healing: Reaction. When hit by an active attack, heals the ally with the lowest HP percentage within two cells of Flare for 100% of M.DEF.
- Rank 7 – Lightning Assault: Deals 70% area damage to all enemies within a two-tile radius of Flare and dispels two buffs.
- Rank 9 – Merciful Strike: Deals 100% physical damage and increases the effect of the next healing skill by 15%.
The first skill you need to unlock for Flare is Suppressive Blow, which does exactly what its name implies: it deals a massive amount of damage to a single target before massively debuffing them for two turns. During those two turns, the target will be unable to use any passives, reaction skills, or active skills, which is a great way to render a tough target nearly ineffective for a short while.
Our rank 3 and 5 skills are support abilities. At rank 3, the Devotion passive allows Flare to recover 15% HP for all nearby allies (within two tiles) after using an active attack, which is a brilliant passive to have in your kit. Keep it close to the allies that receive the most aggro and heal them regularly while Flare attacks!
At Rank 5, the reaction skill Battlefield Heal greatly enhances Flare’s support abilities by allowing her to heal the lowest HP ally (within two tiles) whenever she is hit by an active attack. If you can encourage enemy targets to attack Flare from time to time, such as by keeping her close to your most attacked units, she can heal your team even more without using an NRG. This doesn’t mean you should forgo having a dedicated healer, however, especially later in the game or during Sword of Convallaria’s endgame content.
At Rank 7, the Union Battle Flag skill is a good choice if you’re using Flare on teams with Union units. This skill allows her to buff their attack and defense on the field, but the alternative option, Lightning Assault, is arguably a better choice for Flare. It allows her to deal area damage while also removing enemy buffs, which is something most teams need in Sword of Convallaria.
And as for the Union, as we point out below when discussing our suggested team compositions, there are other units in the faction that can have the Union Battle Flag ability rather than Flare. Go with whatever you think you’ll use the most, in any case!
Flare Team Lineups
Before we start looking at what units to pair with Flare in Sword of Convallaria, it’s important to keep in mind that your team can change from battle to battle depending on the enemies you’re facing and the terrain you’re fighting on. You might need more magic attackers for one fight, or more ranged attackers for another, and so on.
As a general rule of thumb, you want to take at least two DPS units, a tank, and a healer, as well as a fifth unit of your choice. You want units to defend and heal the team, as well as units that will be dedicated to killing or weakening enemies.
Right now, I’m playing the Sword of Convallaria story with a Union faction-based team consisting of Flare, Simona, Might, Tempest, and Lightning. Throughout Chapters 2 and 3 of the game, this has worked pretty well for me, with Flare providing ample healing for the team. However, as mentioned earlier, there will likely come a time when you’ll want to swap out one of your units for a dedicated healer, like Inanna or Angel.
Lightning, Might, and Ballista (another Union member) can all have the Knight’s Glory skill if you choose to unlock it, granting them an ATK bonus while providing shields to Union allies.
Similarly, Simona can unlock the Leader Aura skill – Union Battle Flag – which allows her to boost the ATK and DEF of all faction allies. Union Legendary Gloria has a similar skill, Vow of Justice. You should definitely try to use either one if you own either unit!
There are, however, other units that are very beneficial to a team based around the Union faction. For example, Augustus is a better Breaker than Tempest, and Teadon is perhaps the best tank character in the faction.
