Hip-hop star Travis Scott has sparked rumors about his potential involvement in GTA 6 through a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in his latest music video. The supposed hint has fans wondering if the rapper could receive his very own radio station in Rockstar’s title.
Scott is currently busy with the rollout of the second JACKBOYS album, created in collaboration with his labelmates, including Don Toliver and Sheck Wes. The Houston-born artist dropped the album’s first single, titled 2000 Excursion, on Wednesday, accompanied by some grainy, stylized visuals. He also chucked in a small GTA 6 tease in the final few seconds of the video, at the 3:55 minute mark to be exact.
The timestamp mentioned above displays a frame with a red Ferrari stationed on a porch. On close inspection, you’ll be able to spot a Florida license plate on the vehicle, which clearly reads GTA VI6.Hints usually don’t get more obvious or intentional than this, but there’s always the chance that Travis Scott, or Cactus Jack Records, will end up having nothing to do with the game. However, this didn’t stop fans online from speculating that the rapper could headline his in-game radio station.
It’s worth noting that Travis Scott isn’t the only rapper linked with a GTA 6 radio station. Back in June, Jermaine Dupri claimed that Drake is also in line to get a personal radio station, which he could reportedly use as a platform for new music uploads.
Rockstar’s collaborative track record makes these claims slightly realistic, as GTA V featured multiple radio stations that were helmed by popular artists. Examples include Blonded FM (hosted by Frank Ocean), iFruit Radio (hosted by Danny Brown), and The Lab (hosted by the duo Oh No and The Alchemist under the monikers ‘Doctor No’ and ‘Chemical Bro’). Travis Scott even had his breakout single, ‘Upper Echelon,’ featured on the Radio Los Santos playlist.
If the teases and rumors amount to something, GTA 6’s radio lineup could be the most star-studded yet. It could also aim to reinforce the game’s post-launch relevance, especially if high-profile artists are willing to use it as a platform for new music ahead of traditional sources, like Spotify and Apple Music. Of course, nothing has been confirmed officially yet, so take these theories with a grain of salt.
