Hideo Kojima is working on a new game called OD: Knock, one part in what appears to be an anthology. Here’s everything we know about it so far.
Alongside Physint, as well as 2025 GOTY nominee Death Stranding 2, Kojima has also been working on a new horror property called OD, which is said to explore the true nature of fear. One part is OD: Knock. The game is being made in partnership with Xbox Game Studios and aims to blur the line between video games and horror movies.

Like Death Stranding before it, the project looks to recruit actors, writers, and other creatives from Hollywood and the TV industry to create a new experience. Legendary horror film director Jordan Peele is also attached, and seemingly working on his own part in the anthology, so expect some frights and thought-provoking social commentary in OD.
Setting & gameplay
At this stage, we know very little about OD’s setting, but we do know Knock will be a first-person horror experience. Hideo Kojima’s games don’t always end up looking like we expect them to though, so prepare for plenty of wacky twists throughout.

We also expect it will include Kojima’s unconventional style when it comes to gameplay and storytelling. Of course, this isn’t Kojima’s first foray into horror, and we’ll be interested to see if the legendary developer recycles any ideas from P.T., the playable teaser for the canceled Silent Hills. Our first look at gameplay certainly shared plenty of resemblance.
OD already gives us the chills.
There are even some who whisper that OD is secretly a Silent Hill game and that Konami’s involvement is being kept quiet, but there isn’t any solid evidence to support this theory so far.

The initial trailer showed actors Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier reciting a poem after hearing a Geiger counter as a strange symbol appears in their eyes. As they did, something beat on a door, seemingly trying to get to them. The poem, involving adjectives and animals, became steadily more creepy as Lillis screams in terror, as presumably, the thing that was beating on the door reveals itself.

Quite what any of this means is anyone’s guess, but the trailer ends with the text, “For all players and screamers,” suggesting that OD will cater to gamers and horror movie/TV fans.

Our latest look at the game during the Kojima Productions 10th Anniversary stream gave us a brief glimpse of gameplay before flipping to a terrifying cutscene as poor Sophia Lillis screamed once again.
OD is a first-person horror game and it already looks freaky.
Does OD have a release date?
No, we expect that OD is years away from release. Hideo Kojima has almost exclusively been focused on Death Stranding 2 for the past few years, so work on OD and his other game, Physint, have likely only just ramped up.
While Phil Spencer assured development is well underway during the 2025 Kojima Productions anniversary stream, there’s still no indication as to when it may arrive.

As such, it’d be wise not to expect OD until around 2028, if we’re lucky.
What platforms will OD be on?
It’s far too early to know, but due to Microsoft’s involvement, the game could end up being an Xbox/PC title only. We expect it will land on current gen, but it all depends on how long development takes.

Cast details
Thus far, just three names have been announced for OD: Knock. As for whether these actors will appear across all components or just Kojima’s Knock is yet unclear.

We also don’t have any specific character names to go off yet, so the roles of all three confirmed cast members are currently a mystery.
Sophia Lillis was one of the first faces we saw in OD’s teaser, the 23-year-old actress joining after a number of Hollywood blockbusters including the recent It remakes, Dungeons & Dragons, and more.
Hunter Schafer, of Euphoria fame, is also part of the project. While relatively new to the spotlight, Schafer has already appeared in The Hunger Games series, and is set for a role in the upcoming Blade Runner 2099 show as well.

Rounding out the trio is Udo Kier, who will now appear posthumously after his passing on November 23, 2025. Kier was part of OD’s announcement, but it’s yet unclear if his work on the game was complete.
