If you are attending the Denver Broncos game on Sunday against the New York Giants, be sure to take it all in.
As the Broncos (4-2) battle the Giants (2-4) in a Week 7 game, there will be a special halftime ceremony. Part of that ceremony will honor the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 team nearly 10 years after Peyton Manning played his final game and the team hoisted the Lombardi Trophy.
But in addition to that, the team will also induct former wide receiver Demaryius Thomas into the team’s Ring of Fame, posthumously.
It will be a tremendous honor for Thomas and one that is beyond deserved. Not only was he one of the best players in team history, but he was also one of the most beloved. When people pass from this life, we often hear good things said in their memory, but it is likely you have never heard a negative word spoken about No. 88, nor will you.
Current Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who spent his rookie season with D.T. and has always looked back fondly on their relationship, shared some thoughts this week.

We all know that Thomas had a fantastic career in Denver; his stats prove that. He had 665 catches for 9,055 yards and 60 touchdowns. That is the third-most receptions in team history and his numbers for yardage and touchdown catches rank second. He also made the Pro Bowl five times while helping the Broncos reach two Super Bowls, winning one.
His parents will be in attendance on Sunday to help share in the honor.

Many feel that D.T. put up Hall of Fame numbers, but he may never get there, especially if Rod Smith gets next to no recognition. So, this might be the final time Broncos fans get to look back on one of their own, one of the greats. It will be sure to be an emotional scene.
Thomas was much more than just a fantastic wide receiver. He was loved by his teammates. He was loved by the media that covered and continues to cover the team. He was adored by his community, which he was always active in. He was always doing whatever he could to help those less fortunate. It will be a time for remembrance. It will be a time to honor one of the very best players, but more importantly, one of the very best human beings. If you ever had the chance to meet him, you can attest to that.

It won’t last long. Halftime at an NFL game goes quickly. Take it all in, and say thank you to Demaryius Thomas for leaving the legacy on the game of football that he did and the wonderful impression on those he came across that continues to live on.
