Everton are being linked with a possible signing of Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips as they prepare for life without Amadou Onana.

With Onana likely to leave for Aston Villa (he is in advanced talks with the Villa Park club), Everton are keen to fill the void in their midfield.

According to Insider information about footballManager Sean Dyche and head of recruitment Kevin Thelwell have identified City player Phillips as a leading candidate to strengthen their squad.

Despite Phillips’ struggles at Manchester City, the England international is still widely respected as a Premier League-calibre player, and the chance to revive his career at Goodison Park could be an attractive option.

Phillips, who joined City from Leeds United for £42 million ($54.7m) in 2022, has found it difficult to secure a place in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI.

Nicknamed the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ during his time at Leeds, Phillips was instrumental in the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2020/21.

He made 214 league appearances for United and also featured in England’s Euro 2020 campaign.
