The Sacramento Kings are falling apart at the seams and a rebuild could be on the way.
After a 3-8 start to the season rumors are flying around the team and the future of its stars. One player potentially on the chopping block? Domantas Sabonis.
A recent report from Sactown Sports 1140 has linked the three-time All Star to teams that are close by in California. There’s only three other teams in the state: Lakers, Clippers, and Warriors.

So which team would be the best fit for the big man?
Golden State Warriors
Sabonis has some strong ties to the Warriors after the 2023 playoff series that featured a fight between the big man and Draymond Green. Green was suspended for one game after stomping on Sabonis’s chest.
If the two can put their history aside they would make a formidable frontcourt. The Warriors like to play small but Sabonis’s passing would mesh well with Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler.
It would also give Steve Kerr another tool to utilize in the playoffs depending on the matchup. Whether Golden State needs a small or big lineup, Sabonis would provide more flexibility.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers traded for former No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton in the offseason. He’s answered the call averaging 16.5 points and 7.8 rebounds a game early in the year.
However, there are questions about the big man’s toughness and awareness. Sabonis could fill those gaps and provide a different look with his floor spacing and passing.
Los Angeles has been without LeBron James for the opening stretch of the season and could choose to rest the veteran this year to keep him fresh for playoffs. Sabonis would be an acquisition to fill the gaps on those days and potentially have a two-big lineup for certain matchups.
Los Angeles Clippers
This destination could be the most unlikely out of the three. The Clippers have Ivica Zubac averaging 14.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per game this season. They also signed veteran Brook Lopez in the offseason as a backup.
If Sabonis joined the Clippers it would create a logjam in the frontcourt. Head coach Ty Lue is also known for his willingness to go small in playoff matchups which would clog up the bench even more with talented big men.
Still, a quality contributor like Sabonis could help the Clippers in a loaded Western Conference.
All three teams could pursue Sabonis in the name of talent acquisition but only time will tell if the All-Star center will be on the move.
