Rematch is the latest PVP sports game looking to make a name for itself, but how is its player count looking after launching in June 2025?

Following some eye-catching trailers and successful betas, Rematch generated plenty of buzz prior to release, especially among football fans (or soccer, depending on which side of the pond you’re on). Drawing heavily from Rocket League, it promised the same end-to-end action in a package that looks and feels much closer to the real sport.

It finally launched on June 19 and was immediately praised for its fast gameplay and deceptively complex controls, including in our own review.

But has all of this hype and the positive response translated into a successful launch? Here’s everything we know about the Rematch player count.

Updated June 20 with player count information.

Rematch player count

Rematch has just over 55,000 concurrent players at the time of writing, according to SteamDB. Meanwhile, the peak player count is 92,841 as it stands, which occurred on June 19, just a few hours after launch.

These are the only real metrics we can use right now, as the game hasn’t been out for long enough to work out a monthly average.

It’s also worth noting that this only takes into account users on Steam; it doesn’t include anyone playing on Xbox or PlayStation. So, in reality, the figure will be much higher, considering the game is free on Xbox Game Pass.

The devs themselves haven’t shared any details on how many people are playing at any given time, but they have confirmed that 1,000,000 unique players logged in within the first 24 hours. It remains to be seen how much this number can grow with positive word of mouth.

Player count compared to other games

Although it’s a little early to make a proper comparison between Rematch and its rivals, since we’re still very close to launch and the player base is likely still growing, the numbers still make for interesting reading.

Here’s how it stacks up compared to similar titles as of June 20, based on stats from SteamDB:

Although it hasn’t quite managed to topple heavyweights like EA FC and Football Manager, it’s still managed to overtake Rocket League, which it’s heavily inspired by, on Steam.

Again, it’s worth remembering that these are just snapshot figures taken very soon after launch. We’ll have to wait a few weeks for the initial hype to die down to take a fairer average and get a clearer picture of Rematch’s staying power.
