The Denver Broncos appeared to have found their tight end of the future when they selected Greg Dulcich out of UCLA in the third round of the 2022 draft. He had good size and the kind of athletic ability to help stretch the field.
But injuries, particularly a nagging hamstring injury, slowed him down in his first two years in the league. In 2024, his third season, he is finally healthy but has been a healthy scratch in three consecutive games. That is especially troubling when you consider that the Broncos have almost no major receiving threat at the tight end spot on the roster.

Dulcich just has not worked out in Denver, but with him being just 24 years old, it shouldn’t be hard to convince another team in the league to take a chance on his potential upside. The Broncos could target several teams to take on Dulcich ahead of the November 5 trade deadline and while the return likely wouldn’t net more than a day three draft pick, the Broncos could get some sort of compensation for their failed project.
Teams who could trade for Greg Dulcich
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles played a game on Sunday without starting tight end Dallas Goedert and got nothing from the other tight ends on the roster. The team could use more depth at the position as it makes a push for the postseason later this year and Dulcich could be that guy.
The Eagles were also the team that took on another failed Broncos tight end draft pick in Albert Okwuegbunam, but that shouldn’t make them shy away from a cheap deal to acquire Dulcich.
Detroit Lions
The Lions might be the most complete team in the league and they seem ready to make a run at the Super Bowl. They have one of the league’s best tight ends in Sam LaPorta but their top backup, Brock Wright, is more of a blocker than a threat in the passing game.
Dulcich could come in to spell LaPorta for a few snaps each game and give the Lions one more downfield threat in an already potent passing attack.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers still have their championship window open and they could be looking to add more pieces before November 5. The team does have George Kittle, but the depth behind him is very thin, meaning the team better hope he doesn’t face any serious injuries this season.
Dulcich, a California native, would likely welcome this move and if he could come in and become the understudy to Kittle, there might not be a better place for him in the league.
